FILMS

During the fall of  1989 I began the "time lapse" process of  documenting the construction of two science buildings on the U.C. Berkekey campus.  Too often that technique shows the structures magically emerge, flowerlike, from the earth. Instead, I tried to feature the

workers who actually make it all happen.

Manimal Redux Poster.jpg

This film is my poetic interpretation of the punk song"Manimal" originally performed by The Germs in Los Angeles, 1979. In this music video I've tried to represent slices of cultural alienation ingested by the songwriter/singer Darby Crash, pushing him to commit suicide, at the age of 22, two years after he first performed the song.

Sam Urai Shaver - 2016

Sam ponders remarks made by Donald Trump that he "always wanted a Purple Heart" while shaving for work but suffers a flashback remembering the loss of two friends in a distant war.

"Crossroad" - 1970

As a graduate student in film at Humboldt State College, I encouraged the students in an acting class to get crazy and make  the world's first "Rock Video" - or so we thought... through the haze... at the time.
